Betty Boop - SAMI
Betty Boop is the ultimate cartoon Pin Up....could easily form a cheeky photo from incorporating her style.

Amy Winehouse
Just watching the Brits and they played a small tribute to her..
I might be wrong but i think she was pretty iconic? I'm not sure she is like anyone previous to her either.

Beauty and the Beast.
The photo of them isn't iconic, but the story of them is.It suggests that two opposites shouldn't go together, the beautiful and the ugly beast. We could use this element to represent any two things which would contrast each other. There is also the style of their clothing and how elegant women are represented at, yet when you look at today's women it is very much the opposite. The film was recreated recently "Beastly". It is a modern-day take on the "Beauty and the Beast" tale where a New York teen is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love.
The Scream
The Scream by Edvard Munch is an iconic image which created a mass appeal. Their are many explanations behind his work, what he was influenced by and his motives. One may suggest that the scream is their to show his inner feelings and emotions because of his tough childhood. This view from the road overlooking Oslo is where experts have determined to be the location of "The Scream." This is around where his sister was based as she was admitted to a mental hospital. We could use this image to just show a particular element of an emotion, or a mask as it is well known now for its scream mask and the horror films it is based in. I also love the use of the red sky and the coloured background, this has been the particular element which has been used in remakes.
James Dean
Massive male style icon.. To the point people and celebs are still taking influence from his style now..
He appears so moody and arrogant in pictures.. Has this 'bad boy' image.

Lunch atop a skyscraper
I really like this image.. I think it's very iconic--practically everyone knows what it is yet it isn't an obvious image to choose. Sian made me aware of the Lego remake and I think the way the background has been blurred Is possibly a way we could achieve an image like this. I have already discussed this with all of you and I think we should recreate ours with women and i like the idea Suzanne had about them being really girly with like nail files and vanity mirrors etc. I am going to do a mock up on photoshop to see what It might look like. I've also posted an image of a remake that has been done recently of The Wanted.

Fashion icons in History - SAMI
Louise Brooks - you won't know her name but you'll instantly recognise the picture!
She was the one who brought the Chanel suit, the little flapper set and the black 'helmet bob' into common society.
Elizabeth Taylor
She's absolutely stunning. Known for being a legendary top Hollywood actress of the 'Golden Age', her love of jewellery, her violet eyes and being married 8 times to 7 different men.

Her most iconic role being cleopatra.

Boy George - SAMI
Boy George revolutionised the way we think about gay men, he used make up + drag to flaunt his sexuality into the public. We could put a very quirky spin on it?

Research
Whistler's Mother
I remember this image in the film Mr Bean, even though the image is quite boring and dark we could just take the element of the chair in this picture and way shes sitting, we could use a colourful long dress and drape it over the chair like in this picture.

Reserach
Iconic People
I found this website which listed the most iconic people of all time, looking through the website there where a few people which i thourgh would be good to base our images around.

BARBIE

Barbie is one of the most iconic female figures of our time, almost every female in our society has had their own barbie or a replica doll. This video points out the two view points held by society concerning Barbie over the years- the fact that she causes controversy adds to her iconic image. I think this would be a great image to take from to create something new, we could work with her style, make-up or attitude. Possibly "Bad Barbie" who is rebellious of the ever happy, Barbie world.

After looking at the lobster phone i thought of the Superlambananas that are dotted around Liverpool and the surreal nature of it, possible location spot???
Photographers
Most Influnential Photographers
When doing some research on iconic images I found a website listing the most influenrial photographers.
The number one photographer on this site is Richard Avendon (1923-2004)
Example of his work:
(Diors new look)

( Dovima with elephants, Dior's evening dress)

Few ideas - SAMI

I know Banksy is quite a recent artist but i thought his work would be great as a backdrop if we chose to use the studio for one of out shoots.
Ideas
Just a few ideas here girls, i like the lobster phone by Salvador Dali and think we would could come up with a lot of surrealist ideas for the photo shoot. The village people might seem a little cheesy but i like that there are different styles in the one image.
